Hurricane Katrina - Biloxi, MississippiThis red 44 foot diameter dome, donated by Pacific Dome, was the first relief shelter on site after Hurricane Katrina hit the Southern coast of the USA in 2005. It was erected in 3 hours in front of the Buddhist Monastery, Van Duc, just outside of Biloxi MS. It instantly was filled with semi truck loads of donated food and supplies and became the only distribution center for 100 mile radius. Red Cross and FEMA were also sheltered in the Red Dome, until they were able to get their shelters in place. Hundreds of families were serviced with food, clothing and medical supplies from the dome for over a two month period. |
